About the Authors

Ron Larson

Ron Larson

Author Ron Larson received his Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Colorado and has been a professor of mathematics at the Pennsylvania State University since 1970.

He has been the lead author in over 40 texts from middle school through college. He is the lead author of over two dozen McDougal Littell and Houghton Mifflin textbooks from Grade 6 through Calculus.

Ron Larson is one of the pioneers in the use of multimedia to enhance the learning of mathematics. He has authored over 40 software titles since 1990, including Larson's Elementary Math, Larson's Intermediate Math, Larson's Middle School Math, Larson's Prealgebra, Larson's Algebra 1, Larson's Algebra 1 with Review, and LarsonMath.com: Intermediate.

Robyn Silbey

Robyn Silbey recieved her master's degree in mathematics education from Western Maryland College. She has been a public school teacher since 1974. Her experiences include 12 years as a classroom teacher and over 15 years as a math specialist and teacher trainer.

As a member of advisory and evaluation committees for math, Robyn has been involved in the creation, review, and selection of curriculums, programs, and materials used in the Montgomery County Public Schools. Currently, Robyn is actively involved in the School-to-Community Alliance, creating such local programs as "Parents as Partners" and "Students Actively Learning Economic Strategies (SALES)."

Robyn is the coauthor of Larson's Middle School Math, Larson's Prealgebra, Larson's Algebra 1, and Larson's Algebra 1 with Review. She is a program author of McGraw-Hill Mathematics K-6 and coauthored the book So You Have to Teach Math: Sound Advice for K-6 Teachers with Marilyn Burns.

Caroyln Neptune

Carolyn received her master's degree in mathematics from Purdue University and has been a professor of mathematics at Johnson County Community College since 1982.

She is the author of Opportunities for Excellence: Professionalism and the Two-Year College of Mathematics Faculty and is the co-author of Intermediate Algebra: Graphs and Functions, second edition, with Ron Larson and Robert Hostetler. She is also the author of many supplementary texts.

David C. Falvo

David received his master's of education degree in mathematics from the Pennsylvania State University and has been a lecturer of mathematics at Penn State Erie-The Behrend College since 1989.

He has been part of the author team of 18 texts. He has also written teacher resource guides, solution manuals, and other text supplements for courses from middle school mathematics up to college level courses.
